Final Rehearsal Day As Candidates Get Ready for 2023 KNEC Examinations
Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially announced that rehearsals for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams are scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 19th this month.
KNEC examinations for both KCPE and KPSEA are expected to kick off on Monday, 30th October 30th and will end on Wednesday, November 1st,2023.
For smooth running and the administration of the exams, the council plans to involve over 1,700 officers coming from both KNEC and various other institutions within the education department.
This year’s 2023 KCPE exams are expected to mark the conclusion of the 8-4-4 system in primary schools.
With a population of over 3.5 million candidates slated to partake in the national examinations, the KCPE candidates represent the highest number recorded in the country’s examination records.
Almost one million candidates will sit for the KCSE exams this year as 1.4 million will undertake the KCPE exams.
There is another population of 1.2 million candidates that are registered to sit for the inaugural KPSEA exams

At a briefing time for the monitoring officers held at the Knec headquarters at the New Mitihani House on Monday and Tuesday, knec Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Belio Kipsang, asked officers involved in the exercise to maintain professionalism and dedication in ensuring a smooth and effective conduct of the assessments and examinations.

Kipsang commended Knec for their commendable efforts moreso in the previous year which saw the Council smoothly transition from conducting the traditional two annual examinations to an unprecedented five in response to the disruptions caused by Covid-19.
Their effort led to the country have an essay way to sought to stabilize the school calendar.
