Teachers new retirement age
. Teachers Service Commission (TSC) latest changes will have a substantial impact on the teaching profession .
In the most recent updates, the teachers employer raised the retirement age of teachers by three more years from the current 55 inorder to solve teacher shortage.
The new change will see teachers in Arid and semi Arid being affected .Most teachers who will fall under this bracket include those who are in
- Garissa,
- Mandera, and
- Wajir counties
According to TSC, teachers from these areas would be permitted to work for three extra years before after hitting the official retirement age .

Teachers who have already reached the mandatory retirement age have already received letters to extend their service in the teaching profession.
Most teachers who were now nearly leaving the professional have so fare applauded TSC’s decision to extend the number of years as they serve the kenyan child.
Most of the areas identified above are normally considered as the difficult working areas hence many teachers have always avoided these areas when employment opportunities are announced.
Under the new TSC policy change, TSC is projected to ensure enhancement of the number of experienced teachers who are available to serve in these regions.
These teachers , according to the Commision will are expected to help students who rely on their guidance and gaining knowledge.
In this move Dr. Nancy Macharia, the TSC’s chief executive officer, has prioritized retired teachers from the northeastern region in the most recent developments.
This problem has been brought up since many teachers despise these locations.
This is especially true for professors who travel to these regions on a regular basis.
