TSC Clarification on October/November 2023 Teachers Replacement slots
The Teachers Service Commission TSC announced the removal of teachers from the teachers register from the month of July, August and September this year following their retirement/ natural attrition.
Inorder to avoid have minimal disruption to students’ education, the teachers service commission indicated that a total of 4000 teachers exited the profession that will require new teachers replacement in future.
The commission took the initiative to issue a clarification to clarify any rumors surrounding the replacement process and emphasized the importance of patience.
TSC has not declared the vacancies open for replacement as therefore it will communicate updates and notifications about these vacancies through official social media platforms once the positions are finalized and replacements made.
The commission is alo expected to release a comprehensive list of available teaching positions plus the list on school details and subject requirements.
Graduate teachers who have not secured employment should be ready with their academic documents to serve in schools across the country once the open positions will be declared open .
The vacancies will be easily accessible on the TSC website during the application process.
Teacher shortages in the country has been a challenge following the attributed 100% transition program of learners from one level to another as initiated by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The challenge of teacher shortage is particularly severe in elementary schools that has a current deficit of approximately 38,054 teachers.
Post-primary learning institutions face more dire situation on teacher shortage, with a shortage of about 58,291 teachers which resulting in a significant teacher deficit of approximately 96,000 in learning institutions.
Under the tertiary learning Institutions like Technical and Vocational Education Training Colleges , there is a shortage of around 5,000 teachers.

Even with this shortage, the government is still actively engaged in plans to increase the number of teachers in public schools as this will improve the working environment as well as the overall working conditions for educators nationwide.
