How KCSE 2023 National Examinations KNEC Will Be Different From Other Years .
The mode of collection of Examinations from the containers , the grading system among other changes have been implemented in the forthcoming Kcse 2023 examinations.
A new grading system for the 2023 Kenya National Examinations Council KNEC has been revealed by the ministry of Education MOE ,that is to be implemented in this year’s final KCSE examinations .
In this new grading structure , it is only two subjects that have been identified to grade learners in the final examinations.
Mathematics subject plus one language which may be either English or Kiswahili or sign language are going to determine the final grade for the student.
The Kenya National Examinations council will also consider the top five best performed subjects by the student.
With this new system, machogu indicated that this year is likely to record the highest number of students Joining university, TVET institution as well as other institutions.
In the past ,knec considered the the grading system of the learner that entirely depended on the learner’s performance in English, mathematics, kiswahili as well as two other sciences and two other subjects as well.
The previous knec grading system is believed to have disadvantaged many learners accordingly to the report tht was released by the presidential working committee on the education reforms.
The committee also indicated that the system led to many school dropout as a result of a summative examinations system was basically projected on certification and placement of learners.
English or Kiswahili languages/ subjects measure the literacy of the learner as mathematics measures the numeracy skill of the learner.
Form four students of this year will start their final KCSE examination on 23rd of October and end on 24th November 2023.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council CEO David Njengere, this year’s examination issuance criteria will be different.

Morning examinations will be picked first and returned after assessment and then second examinations will be picked in that order.
In the past , principals would pick the various exams subjects of the day and remain with them in the office to issue them later in the day according to the guidelines of the timetable, a practice that is now no longer applicable.

Among the other changes that have been effected in the 2023 kcse examinations is the officials doing the Invigilation. Previously , primary school teachers used to be Invigilators of the kcse examinations, but knec had now changed as it has assigned these roles to the secondary school teachers .
