Resignation Procedures for TSC Teachers , Causes and Benefits.Teachers Serving under the teachers service commission may decide to resign from the job before they hit the 55 new mandatory age for the same .
Any teacher who is on Permanent and Pensionable terms can resign from their of work after providing three months written notice to their respective institutions.
At the same time one may decide to opt to pay one month’s basic salary in the notice period.
Teachers who resign under the above circumstances do not qualify for any pension benefits.
Teacher Resignation Due to Marriage:
With the female married teachers who have served a minimum of five years on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) terms, they are given an opportunity to resign on account of marriage is available
Once a teacher resigns due due to marriage,this teacher gets to a marriage gratuity , money which is calculated at a rate of 1/12 of a month’s pensionable emoluments and for each completed month of pensionable service.
The teachers ‘ gratuity is subject to a maximum limit of one year’s pensionable emoluments.
Teacher Retirement on Medical Grounds:

For a teacher undergoing retirement process due to health reasons, these are the steps: .
Procedure
- TSC initiates the retirement process through a written letter to the Director of Medical Services (DMS) to convene a medical board.
- Medical Board does the assessment of the teacher’s medical condition thoroughly and provides recommendations to the DMS
- DMS then gives advise to the Commission based on the Medical Board’s findings.
- TSC then proceeds to retire the teacher on medical grounds, this also aims at ensuring that the teacher’s health and well-being are adequately addressed.
Teacher Voluntary Retirement
A teacher can voluntarily decide to retire at the age of 50, on condition that they have completed ten years of continuous service on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) terms
Teacher’s Retirement for Public Interest Reasons:

Just incase the usefulness has significantly diminished or their presence no longer aligns with the educational system’s goals,then the teacher retirement may be considered.
- Teacher participating in Public Assignments: any teacher engaged in public assignments outside regular teaching responsibilities may be retired upon realizing that their role in these assignments is completed as well as being no longer longer required.
- The presence of overall Public Interest: Incase the public interest ultimately influences the decision to retire a teacher, then this encompasses various factors that impact the educational system and the welfare of students and the public.
