It is a relief following the latest move by the ministry that has left a significant financial injection of Sh16 billion. These money is set to be this next week.
School heads will be required to check the above capitation in their respective school accounts.
The ministry released the funds at a time when when headteachers and principals started expressing their concerns just a day earlier.
Most of the school heads indicated that looming financial deadlock had lead to a serious threat to their preparations for upcoming exams.
The Principal Secretary for Basic Education,Belio Kipsang provided detailed insights into the allocation of these funds.
All the Junior Schools will receive a substantial sum of Sh1.75 billion, while primary schools are slated to benefit from Sh1.56 billions.
In a reassuring statement, Kipsang emphasized, “To ensure the seamless functioning of all school activities, the Ministry of Education has successfully secured Sh16,249,982,722.28 billion in capitation funds from The National Treasury, which will be meticulously distributed to learners in public Primary, Junior, and Secondary Schools.”
Equally, the allocation is meant to safeguargd the health and safety of students, government has enforced a prohibition on any on-site activities during the third term.
Most of the concerns raised by school administrators,had raised several financial crisis that cast a shadow over school operations and cast doubt on the preparedness for the KCPE and KCSE examinations.
The Chairman of Kuppet Omboko Milemba indicated that he has taken proactive steps by reaching out to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu as well as calling upon Parliament to swiftly intervene in expediting the release of these vital funds.
