7,400 Teachers Excluded From JSS Retooling
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has indicated that all the primary school teachers who have been sent to secondary schools (JSS) will not be able to attend in the training started on Monday 9th October 2023 .
Back in March 2023, about 7,400 deployment-qualified PTE teachers were sent to teach grade 7 Jss learners.
Latest details indicate that from October 9 to 13 it is only newly recruited JSS teachers are allowed to participate in the training.
The number of teachers expected to be re-equipped by 2 Monday is 56,000 Grade 7 teachers .
The training will be Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) training.
TSC CEO commended the teachers participating in the exercise for ensuring that they complied with CBC regulations while carrying out normal school work.
Going as per to a memo sent to TSC regional and district directors on September 26, TSC requested training for teachers of languages, science, mathematics, humanities and technical sciences.
Note that this CBC training takes place at the same time as the national written exam for grade 7 students starting in October.
knec tests have been made publicly available by Knec so that schools can download, print as well as distribute to pupil.
Learners in 7th grade students must take required and optional courses that culminate in a written exam. TSC trains JSS teachers.
Knec Testing will take place from October 2 to October 26, 2023..
