HELB Loan Application 2023 Directives To Students Without IDs
Higher Education Loans Board applications HELB has provided a new clarification regarding the manner in which the board will release cash to students who did loan application in 2023.
Details from the placement body shows that over 20000 learners have applied for the funds but they lack the National Identification cards.
Charles Ringera,HELB Chief Executive Officer has issued a statement in which he said that money would be withheld from the student until the student obtained a proper ID.
According to the board directs that in the process of submitting loan application through HELB,every student and their parents are required to provide their personal identification numbers.
On behalf of the placement body,the CEO noted that the board is unable to act since it is not allowed by law to issue loans to those who are younger than 18 years of age.
Why Identification Card is important
Ringera added that an Identification Card is important since it will help in identifying the identity of the student especially when they are repaying the loan.
Ringera also encouraged students to apply for the other Provided subsidies that were publicised by the government , adding that there are quiteplenty of resources available to meet their requirements.
The board equally extended its confidence in the new funding model, saying that the fact that it has been adopted at the appropriate time to ensure that every student has the necessary finances to advance their studies.
Ringera equally clarified that it clear to the students that,unlike the previous years ,for those who will major or move to a new institution, still they will have a chance to get the monies that had been allocated to them.
The board is expected to spent a almost Ksh210 billion by the year 2028 to support students using the new model.
The above amount includes Ksh145 billion for loans plus another Ksh75 billion for scholarships.
In this new government regime, chances are that more that 285698 students would enrol in higher education programmes during the month of September.
HELB CEO also gave an assurance that all students will be accommodated cutting any worry that some students might be left out of the programme.
Allocation of funds to students will be awarded based under classifies four classifications under ;
- vulnerable,
- severely needy,
- needy,
- less needy.
