New school Closing Dates
The third term end date for primary and secondary schools across the country.
Most preschools, elementary schools, and middle schools have set a new date of sending students home for November/December vacation from October 19 instead of October 27 as previously announced by the Ministry of Education.
The above vacation is important because the national exam is coming up so students who are in class 8 and form four.
Learners who do not participate in the national exam will stay home until January 8, 2024, next year.
Learners in the sixth and eighth grade candidates will take the KPSEA and KCPE exams, respectively, taking four-day period from October 30 to November 2, 2023.
This year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will begin on November 3 and continue until November 24, 2023.
This year also marks the final ground of KCPE students under the 8-4-4 system, which has been replaced by a 2-6-3-3-3 skills-based curriculum.
Details from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) indicates that.in this year , there are around 2.3 million candidates are expected to sit the KCPE and KCSE exams this year.
The current KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere has confirmed the completion of preparation of candidates comprising the 1,282,574 Grade Six students who will participate in KPSEA .
There are 1,143 containers that will be used for the KCSE, KCPE and KPSEA 2023 exams. Another total of 576 distribution centers or containers will host the KPSEA and KCPE exams, and 567 containers will be designated for paper distribution KCSE sheet.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has identified 223,223 teachers as invigilators and monitors for the 2023 national exam.
New school closing dates
37,731 teachers have been selected as examiners for the national exam this year.
As from November 27th , the teachers will begin a grading process that will last through December 15, 2023.
