Kisumu Girls Face Indefinite Closure
Students From at Kisumu Girls left for home on Sunday, September 17 morning.
Details indicate that Ministry of Education officials are currently in a closed-door meeting within the the administration.
The Nyanza Regional Education Director mr. Nelson Sifuna says the students started showing signs of agitation on Friday something which worsened on this Sunday morning.
In his his report, sifuna says that as from Friday there have been issues in this school.Most girls were making noise and refusing to participate in school activities.
The behavior gradually generated to shouting at any person trying to address them
This situation is said to have worsened yesterday when officers from the National Government Administration and Ministry of Education tried to address them at the Dining Hall but they were very angry.
Sifuna added that when he rushed to the school and addressed them, they refused to openly give grievances they have. The students were given papers to write their grievances.
According to sifuna, the situation got worse on Sunday when they became rowdy as a result of a blackout as a result the school’s board of governors met and decided to send them home to restore normalcy.
The students are said to wake up on Monday more agitation, they went to the Dining Hall and wanted to play all types of music. Since there was a blackout they started shouting and throwing papers. This led made the Board call for a meeting resolving that to restore order the school closes as they look into their grievances
Kisumu school’s administration and the Ministry of Education is yet to give an official communication.
