The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations certificate are important requirements in Kenya and for those who have lost them replacement is mandatory while in the academic field.

There are some circumstances which can compel one to have a replacement for their KCPE or KCSE certificates . This may be;

- It they are damage by fire or anything of that kind
- If they are misplaced .

- Ensure that you are able to provide proof of the loss of their original certificate then the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) will issue a replacement certificate in accordance with section 10 of Kenya National Examination Council Act.
- Note that a candidate can only replace their certificate once in lifetime.
Replacement of a lost KCPE or KCSE certificate procedure:
- Access the knec office and obtain the KNEC certificate replacement .you can as well download it from the KNEC website @ http://qmis.knec.ac.ke.
- Fill the form with the appropriate details while ensuring that there are no blanks.
- Make sure that you include all supporting documents along with the filled-out KNEC certificate replacement form.
List of Documents required for replacement of a lost KCPE or KCSE certificate:
- Have a clear copy of the certificate (mandatory)
- Have a Clear copy of ID/passport or birth certificate (for candidates under 18 years)
- Ensure that the names on these documents must match the names used during the exam. Just Incase there has been a legal name change include a valid affidavit.
- Submit an riginal affidavit taken under oath in a court of law
- Possess a valid original police abstract stating the loss of the certificate(s)
- Present a Completion/Recommendation letter from your school or exam center
- Have n original KNEC bank deposit slip (mandatory)

KNEC fees required for the replacement lost certificates is Kshs 5,800 which (including 16% VAT tax).

Collection of the certificate
- Replaced knec Certificates can be collected from the KNEC offices within 60 days of submitting the request.and during this period the certificate holders must verify their identity with an ID.
- Kenyans who are considered minors and under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian present with the original ID.
- All the replaced certificates that are not collected within two years of the application date will be discarded by the council without any refund. The owner may also not be consulted.
