Ministry Makes Changes to 2023 Third Term Closing Dates
Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued the school calendar for the third term ahead of the this year 2023 KNEC National Examinations.
On September 15, the Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Bellio Kipsang issued a statement indicating that candidates are set to kick off national tests on October 30th 2023
The PS Kipsang advised all the parents to ensure thorough preparation accordingly and collaborate with teachers to ensure a smooth examination period for students.
The ps noted that all schools opened for the Term 3 of the 2023 academic calendar on August 28th, 2023 . The term is scheduled to run until October 27th of next month to give room for the start of the national examinations season.
Part of the official statement directs all the field officials and institutional administrators to cancel all the school activities involving parents and other stakeholders during the Third Term .
This will allow for adequate preparations ahead of the National Examinations that are set to start on 30th October, 2023.
Schools were further promised to get their disbursement that are considered a necessary capitation funds to ensure a seamless calendar.
In the report, the PS said that the Ministryof Education has received Ksh16,249,982,722.28 Billion as capitation funds from The National Treasury to facilitate . This is meant to facilitate the smooth running of all school activities.
The above funds will be disbursed to learners in public Primary, Junior as well as the Secondary schools accounts.
According to Kipsang ,Junior Secondary Schools would receive Ksh1.75 billion, Free Primary Education would get Ksh1.56 billion. The Free Day Secondary Education would receive a total of Ksh12.9 billion in capitation.
Inorder to have proper operations of all school activities, Ministry of Education will ensure that the funds are credited to respective school accounts by September 20, 2023 this month.
The ministry directive on the comprehensive breakdown of the funds and guidelines utilization of these funds have been sent to schools in compliance with Government regulations.
