Primary teachers fail exams .Over 1,500 elementary school teachers has failed their Examinations
Data from the National examinations council indicate that it is only 3,786 candidates who passed the exam in 2021, equivalent to 67.90%, as compared to 7,498 in 2020 out of 8,870 candidates registered that year,which is equivalent to 84.53%.
In addition, 1,586 out of 5,576 elementary school teachers that did registeration for the 2021 Third Year Teacher Certification Examination for Elementary Education failed.
In the process of announcing these results on Friday at Nakasero State House, mr. Kyambogo University Vice-Chancellor and Professor Elly Katunguka, did an highlight on the decline in the overall performance of students in the 2021 third year examinations Compared with the last year.
He added that in the 2021 exam, every subject achieved good results with an overall pass rate of 97%.

Katunguka further indicated said students’ English teaching results have improved significantly with a pass rate of 99.80% compared to 94.7% in the 2020 grade 111 exam.

Equally, there was a decrease in mathematics teaching with a pass rate of 75.24% compared to 96.0% in the 2020 class 111 exam.
The number of points achieved was less in 2021 with only 130 points achieved, representing 2.3% compared to 411 points obtained in the 3rd year exam in 2020, representing 4.63%. In 2021, credits also decreased, to only 3,616 credits, accounting for 64.8%, compared to 7,024 (79.19%) in the 3rd year exam in 2020.
Additionally, the number of passing candidates increased from 63 (0.71%) in 2020 to 40 (0.7%) in 2021.

A number of candidates failed in 2021 with a total of 1,586 which is (28.4%), compared to 922 (10.39%) who failed in 2020. 204 candidates were unscored in 2021, or 3.7%, compared to 450 unscored candidates in 2020 which translates to 5.07%.
Top candidate in the Class 111 Teacher Certification Examination for Primary Teacher Training 2021 is Mugisa Tumwine of St Augustine Butiiti PTC in Kyenjojo District who scored a total of 13 out of 9 in nine (9) subjects study and get “A” grades in school reality.

The top female candidate was Zainabu Owokunda from Bikungu PTC in Bushenyi District with a total of 14 out of 9 in nine (9) subjects and scored an “A” in Academic Practice and Overall Performance.
