TSC Ends Recruitment of Intern Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) finally ends recruitment exercise for intern teachers that are to be deployed in Primary and junior secondary schools.
The process of deployment of these teachers has equally started immediately.
According to Mr.Fredrick Nganga who serves as the director of the TSC Murang’a County, a total of 635 newly recruited teachers in the county will be deployed to 514 public primary schools which host junior secondary.
On Wednesday , Nganga announced from his his office that the newly employed teachers are to report to their respective schools starting September 1st 2023.
The deployment exercise will see each school with a single class stream assigned one teacher and two teachers will be assigned to each school with two or more class streams.
The commission will also have time to determine a gap of teachers in the junior high schools after reporting ends.
The commission advertised 20,000 paid internships for teachers in which (18,000 were for primary schools and 2,000 in secondary schools) .
The interns are expected to offer help in the rollout of competency-based curriculum (CBC)
Inorder for one to be considered for recruitment, teacher applicants had to meet specific requirements.
Among the key requirements included being a Kenyan citizen through having a valid national identification card.
One must also have a bachelor’s degree in education or its equivalent, have earned a C+ (plus) average in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent under secondary schools.
Candidates must also have earned a grade of C+ (plus) in two subject areas in the KCSE exams.
Applicants must also have their teaching credentials validated by TSC which includes registration number that was evidence of their professional standing and qualification to join the internship program.
